On 20 August 2026, the Heart of Mary Charity Association (HEMACHA), in partnership with RELUFA, successfully implemented an educational support intervention under the Providing Assistance and Strengthening Resilience among Crisis-Affected Communities and Displaced Persons in Cameroon (PARS) project.
π Venue: Esplanade of the Youth Chaplaincy, Douala, Littoral Region
π§π½ Beneficiaries: 50 vulnerable girls
π Date: 20 August 2026
The intervention targeted 50 vulnerable young girls, including internally displaced persons and girls from vulnerable families in Douala and its environs. Through this initiative, HEMACHA provided support towards school registration and partial school fees, while also distributing essential educational and hygiene materials to the beneficiaries.
The girls received:
- School bags
- Pens
- Pencils
- Female sanitary pads and other hygiene materials
- School-fee/registration support where applicable
Beyond the material assistance, this intervention was about restoring hope, protecting dignity and strengthening resilience among young girls whose education has been affected by crisis, displacement and financial hardship.

CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED
The implementation of the project came with some challenges.
Most of the identified beneficiaries had written the General Certificate of Education (GCE) examinations. This made it necessary to await their results before some registration and tuition payments could be finalized.
Furthermore, many beneficiaries attend Government schools and institutions, particularly secondary and high schools. At the time of implementation, several of these institutions had not yet commenced the collection of school fees because the official circular authorizing fee collection had not yet been released by the Ministry.
Despite these challenges, HEMACHA remained committed to ensuring that the intended beneficiaries received the support available to them.
THE IMPACT
For these 50 girls, this intervention means more than school materials and financial assistance.
It means hope.
It means encouragement.
It means dignity.
It means knowing that someone cares about their future.
By supporting vulnerable girls to remain in school, we are investing not only in their individual futures but also in stronger families and more resilient communities.
HEMACHA believes that every girl deserves an opportunity to learn, dream and build a better future, regardless of the circumstances surrounding her.
OUR HEARTFELT APPRECIATION
HEMACHA extends its sincere gratitude to RELUFA for entrusting us with the implementation of this important and delicate project. We deeply appreciate your confidence, partnership and commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable and crisis-affected communities in Cameroon. Your support has helped put smiles on the faces of vulnerable girls and has given them renewed courage to continue their educational journey.
Together, we can strengthen resilience.
Together, we can restore hope.
Together, we can empower vulnerable girls.
Together, we can build stronger communities.
